Two Claude accounts, side by side
Sketchbook’s Claude section now works with two Claude accounts at once. Every session says which account it runs on, and new sessions, the terminal and Ask Claude can each use either one.
The request, on 17 October: “ok impliment this into sketchbook”. “This” was a second Claude account, set up earlier that day so that two subscriptions can run side by side on the same machine, each in its own terminal session. Until now Sketchbook only knew about the first one. From this release both are first-class, on the web, the tablet and the phone.
Every session says its account
The Claude section’s session list now shows the sessions of both accounts together. Each card carries a small label, Account 1 or Account 2. Above the list, a switch shows all accounts or just one, and Sketchbook remembers the choice. With only one account, the list looks exactly as before.
If an account’s terminal session is not running, the list says so in a plain sentence instead of quietly showing nothing. Sketchbook never starts, restarts or closes those sessions itself. That stays a deliberate step for a person at the machine.
Choosing the account
- New session has an account picker. It starts on Account 1 and then remembers your last choice. If the chosen account’s session is not running, the Start button is off and the reason is shown.
- The terminal can open either account’s session, with a switch at the top. It never opens a session that is not running.
- Ask Claude, both the question about a page and the quick question from the round button, has an account picker. It starts on Account 1 every time. Once the question is sent, the box shows which account is answering.
- A chat shows its account in the line under the tab name.
Nothing gets crossed
Each account numbers its own sessions, so two accounts can both have a session number 12. Sketchbook now gives every session a number that already includes its account, and Account 1’s numbers are the same as before. A reply, a menu answer, a starred session or a voice reply from the car can therefore only ever reach the account it came from. The phone’s notifications and car replies needed no change at all.
Adding a third account later is one line of configuration.
Kept as it was
The private journal stays out of the Claude section, as it stays out of everything else. Claude still cannot send mail from Sketchbook. The terminal’s sign-in arrangement is unchanged.
Not yet
The terminal of the second account will not open until that session is set to allow web connections, which is a one-time switch inside the session itself. The first account’s terminal also failed to open in the live check, inside the terminal program, and is being looked at separately. Starting a new session and sending a message were not tried on the live sessions, and nothing has been tried on a real phone or tablet yet.
